How did you meet each other?
We met at John's 21st birthday party - Johnapalooza. John had just moved up to Denver from Albuquerque so his friends threw him a big party for his birthday. John and I (Melinda) had mutual friends, so I ended up attending the party, where we met and talked the entire night. We met for a real date for coffee a few days later!
What was the best memory of your wedding day?
John surprised me at the reception by coming out on stage with the band and playing two songs on the bass with them. I had NO idea and it was the best surprise. Everyone was so excited and he really crushed it!
What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day?Remember that this day is about you and celebrating your love. You get one wedding day, so it should be exactly what you want! Also don't worry about the tiny details - they cause a lot of stress and most people won't remember them.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to the Kona side of the Big Island, Hawaii and stayed in a magnificent house through Inspirato, a luxury vacation club. They helped us plan activities like a couples massage and romantic dinner. Snorkeling in Pauoa Bay and eating all the Poke were probably our favorite activities. We had such ambitions before the trip to go to the volcanoes and the Hilo side of the island but ended up just relaxing and going to the beach every day. It was the absolute best!
