How did you meet each other?
Gabriel and I met each other in undergrad at CU Boulder through a mutual friend. Our first date was at a pond in town where Gabriel had to finish a bird watching assignment for his ornithology class. This date was what inspired the bird themed seating chart at our wedding. Boulder is where we fell in love and it felt fitting to bring our family there to celebrate our love story.
What was a favorite memory from your wedding day?
How do you choose just one favorite?! Can we do the top two?
During our ceremony there was a humming bird that flew right up to us while we were listening to our friend Russell give a reading. It was magical! (You can see the bird in the ceremony video fly right up to the camera).
Our parents surprise ABBA dance! Everyone knows that I love ABBA. Apparently while Gabriel and I were at our bachelorette and bachelor parties, both sets of parents got together to plan a dance to the song Waterloo. They changed into costumes and everything. It was such a fun surprise but the meaning behind it meant the most - At most weddings the bridal party will do a dance or one side of the family but the fact that both sides of the family came together to surprise us both is so special. To me it symbolizes how lucky we are to have found such loving families that are coming together to create a new family.
Do you have any advice for couples as they plan their wedding day?
Everything takes longer than you think! Start planning early, check things off the list whenever you have spare time, don't wait! Brides... give yourself one more hour than you think necessary on your wedding morning.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Greece for our Honeymoon. We flew into Athens and then visited two smaller islands, Hydra and Paros. We would definitely recommend it. Hydra was our favorite because it was smaller with very few tourists.
