 How did you meet each other?

The story of Starson and I began June 6th, 2013. Starson was asked by a mutual friend of ours, Larryl Lynch, to prepare dessert at The Annual Lujan Dinner, an NMSU Aggie Athletic fundraising event held every summer. GO AGGIES!!! Larryl sits on the board for the event and invited me, an employee of his at Albuquerque The Magazine, to attend as his guest (knowing I am also a former Aggie and rode for the equestrian team). Larryl must like hiring Aggies because another former Aggie and Albuquerque The Magazine employee, Liz Lopez, was in attendance enjoying the night with us.

We all had a blast together that evening as I watched this tall and quiet chef light up behind his fiery cherries jubilee.  He eventually blossomed into a rambunctious and outgoing man, as well as quite the conservationist, by the end of the night.  He definitely captivated my attention for the rest of the event. It would have been left to just that, one night of talking, if it had not been for Liz. She encouraged me to meet him along with a few others for a nightcap at Vernon's Steakhouse after the event. We got to know each other a little more, shared one drink and then headed towards our homes. Starson offered me his jacket as he walked Liz and I towards our taxi, I think it was then my heart melted a little. I remember Liz saying on the way home, "I think there is something special with that one, I think he could be your one". She was right.

What was the best memory of your wedding day?

The best memory from our wedding day was probably soaking it all in at the end of the night. We sat alone, Starson and I, for a few minutes and recapped the perfect day's events.  It really was perfect and I am so thankful!

What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day?

Things won't always go according to plan, but you can always take a deep breath and smile through it. Sometimes those mishaps make for the best stories.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?  Where did you stay and what were a couple activities you enjoyed.  Would you recommend to other couples?  If you used a travel agent and liked them please note that.

Starson and I are in a travel club called World Ventures.  We seriously get the best pricing on trips and stay connected to some fabulous people because of it.  Our honeymoon was a 12 day Southern Caribbean cruise.  We went to Grand Cayman, Aruba, Bonaire, Granada, Martinique, St. Marteen and ended in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We stayed an extra night at an the amazing El San Juan Hotel and Casino before flying home ejoying local and Cuban food as well as one more adventure and some beach time.

The best part of the honeymoon for Starson was snorkeling the crystal clear waters of Bonaire, followed by some beers with the Dutch locals. My favorite part, actually one of the coolest experiences in my life, was night kayaking in Bioluminescent Bay outside San Juan Puerto Rico.

We were both working for the same digital marketing agency in Denver in the Fall of 2011. Vanessa looked up one day, saw Josh's baby blue eyes and killer bod, and she began to swoon.  Being the romantic that he is, Josh asked her on a date - she said yes - and they went to the movies to see "Shark Night 3D". Between Josh running to puke in the bathroom at the movie theater, bad acting and terrible movie plot, they managed to have a great time laughing and telling jokes. Thus, there were many more dates until, as they say, the rest is history.

What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?

Vanessa - For me, is was watching Peyton Manning congratulate us on our wedding day! Haha, but in reality, it was seeing Josh's face when he turned around to see me for our first look.

Josh - My favorite memory was the anticipation of the first look and seeing Vanessa in her dress for the first time. I’ll never forget that.

What would be some advice you would give to other couples? For the day itself, the best advice would be to take a few moments for just the two of you to take a step back, look around, and appreciate the day itself and the people that all came together to make it happen.  Little things may not go exactly according to plan, so if you anticipate that fact ahead of time you’ll save yourself a lot of stress in the process. The entire day goes by in the blink of an eye so focus on what is most important rather than worrying about whether or not the cake arrived on time. Where did you go on your honeymoon? What activities did you do while there? We went to Lisbon, Portugal and Paris, France and stayed in apartments that we found online in both cities. We recommend doing that instead of spending money on hotel rooms because you can save a lot of money upfront and you get more amenities like a kitchen to prepare small meals, which helps save even more and allowed us to do some amazing extra activities!.  Both cities were incredible!! In Lisbon, we really enjoyed hanging on the beach and exploring all the little neighborhoods and the different style of each street. Paris is definitely for honeymooners! The romantic city offered dinner cruises on the Seine, wine of all different varietals, nightly strolls along the river and of course art, music and cheese!

What was the best memory of your wedding day? Seeing everyone so happy! It doesn't  seem often you are surrounded by your closest friends and family who have smiles beaming from ear to ear, and you spend all day hugging and laughing. To be that happy and excited for the entire day, with all the people you love, was the best part for us both!

What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day?  Hire an independent wedding coordinator! They are a wealth of knowledge to guide you through the process. It will make all your hard work, efforts and specific request happen, and your wedding day will flow seamlessly, allowing you to enjoy it so much more! They are a wealth of knowledge to guide you through the process.Where did you go on your honeymoon?  Where did you stay and what were a couple activities you enjoyed.  Would you recommend to other couples? We took a 7 day Mediterranean cruise starting and ending in Rome Italy. We visited-Florence- Italy, Cannes- France, Palma Majorca-Spain, Barcelona-Spain, Naples, Sorrento and the Isle of Capri- Italy. Some of our favorite memories of the honeymoon are having Lemon Ice and Gelato in the Isle of Capri, visiting hundreds of year old churches, and receiving a blessing of our marriage from a Priest at the Vatican! Taking the cruise was a fabulous way to see a large part of Europe, without all the hassle! It was great to have everything arranged for you and only have to unpack and pack once!

How did you meet each other? That’s a funny story. We met online like many couples these days do. We met thru a popular website and decided to meet in Old Town Fort Collins. I (Ali) was supposed to go on another date earlier in the day with someone else but had a gut feeling to reschedule it for another day. As the night unfolded we discovered that the date I had cancelled had actually been with Tim’s roommate. Considering the thousands of matches made thru the website it was a pretty crazy (and somewhat embarrassing) coincidence. Tim took it well and made a funny joke “Well this will be a funny story to tell if we ever got married!”.

What was the best memory of your wedding day? The overwhelming amount of love and support we felt from our friends and family members. Every good wish, every favor, everyone’s attendance, everything in general meant the world to us. Our hearts were overflowing with the love that weekend.

What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day? Don’t get hung up in the small details and don’t get overwhelmed by the day. Take time to step back and enjoy things, it’s over before you know it and you’ll want to savor the moments.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?  Where did you stay and what were a couple activities you enjoyed? Would you recommend to other couples? We went to Jamaica for 10 days. Our first two days were spent in the Montego Bay/Ochos Rios area where we explored the Luminescent Lagoon, the Irie Blue Hole and Dunns River Falls. All were incredible! We have the most amazing driver named Stevart who owns Best Jamaica. If you’re going to explore and need a driver there’s no question that he’s the top choice. He gave us great trip advice, taught us about the culture and made sure we experienced the area. We spent the rest of our time in Negril. Our first leg of our Negril trip was spent on the West End where the cliffs overlook the ocean. We had our own private bungalow at the Tensing Pen. It was by far the most amazing, tranquil, relaxing place we have ever been. We had our own ladder into the water, although we typically just used it for exiting. We spent a lot of time there snorkeling and in general just relaxing with one of the resort’s dogs that adopted us for our stay. We took a snorkeling trip with Famous Vincent who afterwards took us to Booby Cay for a fresh lobster lunch (BEST MEAL EVER!). We also ate at the Rockhouse, Catcha Falling Star and Ras Rody’s. Ras Rody’s is another do not miss! For the end of our trip we stayed at Couples Negril which is an all inclusive on the sandy beach of Negril. We spent most of our days scuba diving. We saw nurse sharks, turtles and so many colorful fish. We also took a sunset cruise on a catamaran and did some more snorkeling on the West End. The food was incredible and the beach was a great place to lay out and have a few afternoon cocktails. We did the majority of our trip planning ourselves but our stay at Couples Negril was arranged by Brenda at Blue Diamond Divers and Travel, she made sure we got our Honeymoon package with champagne, flowers and massages. We are so happy we chose Jamaica for our honeymoon, we had the perfect balance of exploration and relaxation and can’t wait to go back!

How did you meet each other? We met at Aarons's cousin's birthday party downtown in 2009! Karmin told the birthday girl that she was attracted to him and it took only a few minutes for Aaron to come over and introduce himself!  The rest is history.

Aaron's favorite:  our first dance.

Karmin's favorite:  looking around and seeing all of the people that we love and the big smile Aaron had on his face when I walked down the aisle.

What advice would you give for other couples? Things will go wrong during the planning process, but you will laugh about it later.  There are moments when eloping sounds like a great idea, but when you're at your wedding,you will realize it was worth all of the work!  We sent out invites to out of state guests and they didn't have our wedding date on them!  Oops!  The printer made the mistake but none of us noticed when we were addressing them!

Also, take a few minutes to be alone with your bride/groom at the wedding!  It goes by so fast!!!

How did you meet? We met in high school through band and swim team, but didn't really get to know each other until we reconnected seven years later. While I was in school at the University of Wyoming and Ryan was finishing up school at CSU, he offered to help me with statistical analysis for a paper, and I knew he was a keeper.

What was your favorite memory from your wedding day? Seeing each other during our first look :)

Do you have any advice for future couples? Delegate as much as possible, and try not to get hung up on the details; it's usually not worth it. The big picture is what's important.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?  We're still planning the honeymoon, but in the Spring we will be going some place warm and with a beach.

How did you meet each other? Nick was looking for a place to live and answered an ad for a room for rent where Christina was living. The first time Nick and Christina met each other was when he went to look at the place. Christina was smitten, and obviously things worked out!

What was the best memory of your wedding day? Nick's best memory is their first dance, to "The Night is Young and You're So Beautiful", from the movie, Robin Hood Men in Tights. Christina's best memory is her Dad walking her down the aisle, with Nick waiting for her at the altar.

What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day? Elope! Just kidding, try to enjoy the planning because it goes by quickly. Don't worry about the details on your wedding day. What's most important is the two of you, surrounded by your family and friends.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? We're still planning the honeymoon, and we look forward to relaxing on a warm beach this spring to escape the Colorado winter.

How did you meet each other?

We met as biology lab partners in high school, and rekindled a friendship when we took a bunch of Spanish classes together in college, but we didn't start dating until we were both out of college and living and teaching in Colorado Springs.

What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?

We didn't do a first look, so seeing each other for the first time at the altar was a wonderful and emotional moment.

Do you have any advice for future couples?

Remember that this day is about making a lifelong commitment to each other, and even if something "goes wrong" or doesn't work out as you planned, it won't be a big deal on the day. You will be so happy and so excited that you probably won't care about that one little detail. Enjoy the day, and try to take it all in. And make sure you put someone responsible in charge of keeping track of all the groomsmen's clothes so you aren't searching for pants 20 minutes before the ceremony.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?  What activities did you do?

We began our honeymoon in Newport, Rhode Island at the Castle Hill Inn for a couple nights, and then visited Plymouth, Concord, Boston, and Salem, Massachusetts. We relaxed, rode bikes along the cliffside, golfed twice, enjoyed local 'chowda,' lobster, and other treats at great local restaurants, enjoyed a harbor cruise in Salem, visited Orchard House, Walden Pond, and Author's Row, and had a wonderful time. We loved having a non-traditional honeymoon, and we think that a New England honeymoon in the fall was just delightful. The weather was perfectly cool, so we could enjoy spending time in a cozy hotel room with the fire burning in the fireplace, and it was pleasant to walk around town to see the sights.

What was the best memory of your wedding day?

 Spending time with our family and friends in an amazing location and having a really personal experience with have so many family and friends involved in the weekend from the music to the ceremony and reception. It was an amazing weekend!!

What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day?

 Take it all in, it goes really fast. Just remember to enjoy it. And we really enjoyed the event the next day allowed us to spend more time with everyone.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? 

We are on our honeymoon right now! Typing this email from the Cook Islands.  We are visiting Raratonga and Aitutaki while we are here. It is amazing so far!! We have stayed at Pacific Resort in both locations and would highly recommend it.
