Ashley's Baby Shower

In about 7 weeks we will be welcoming our first baby boy! It's getting REAL!!

 Yesterday, my sister, mom  and I put together a nautical themed baby shower for baby G. It was such a special day and we are beyond blessed to have such wonderful friends and family who made the day truly incredible. We received more gifts than we know what to do with (literally-it's gonna take awhile to figure out the monitor, swing, toys, etc.).

Thanks to my amazing sister and her craftiness, we had a homemade ice cream bar, handmade signage, lots of onesie craft ideas, great food and a spotless house! I'm so thankful that she and my nephews were able to come out from Alabama to spend this time with us and be a part of everything.  During the shower Drake, Drake's friend Nate and my brother took the boys to the Rockies game where they had a blast and let us have our girls day.

Thank you to everyone who came to help celebrate Baby G! Drake and I are so excited to meet our little guy! Thank you also to all of you who couldn't make it. We appreciate your kind words and gifts and hope to see you all soon!

Lisa + Chris's Engagement Session {Colorado Wedding Photographer, Red Rocks Engagement Session}

Lisa and Chris are both natives of Colorado living in Oklahoma City at the moment.  When they came out to book their wedding venue we had a chance to take them out for a classic Colorado engagement shoot  outside Red Rocks Amphitheater and up to Lookout Mountain.  We could not be happier for these two and are excited to see them tie the knot on September 20th up in Arvada, CO.

Megan + Monty King's Wedding {Ft. Collins Wedding Photographer, Colorado Wedding Photographer}

Megan and Monty King literally shared their vows with one another on a blue sky spring afternoon in Ft. Collins, Colorado.  Following their ceremony at.  After a few more photo ops, the newlyweds were reintroduced to their wedding guests at The Lincoln Center for an afternoon breakfast buffet complete with a french toast and syrup fountain and warm cinnamon rolls as their wedding cake.  The evening was capped off with a bubble send off as they drove away honking the horn of a bright red 1958 Chevy with tin cans dangling behind.  What a fantastic wedding day it was for Megan and Monty.  We wish you the best and congratulations Mr. and Mrs. King!

Kristen + Matt's Ralston Crossing, Arvada Wedding {Denver Colorado Wedding Photographer, Ralston Crossing Wedding Photographer}

{Ashley} Kristen and I met through work and has been a great friend of ours for about 5 years. After she listened to all my wedding plans last year and helped coordinate our big day in Alabama and even caught the bouquet at our wedding, I knew her day would be nothing short of magical.

Matt and Kristen met through work, although Matt was based in Minnesota... a long way from Denver. They pursued a long distance relationship for about a year before Matt decided to pack up and move across the country. His love of the outdoors is why he said he moved to Colorado but we all knew it was really a cute brunette aka Kristen:)

Matt planned the perfect engagement in New York City over the holidays last year. He proposed near one of the fountains that you see in the movies. I'm sure it was Kristen's fairytale engagement, which she definitely deserved. And I must say, Matt did a great job picking out her ring:)

Kristen and Matt held their ceremony and reception at Ralston's Crossing in Arvada in June on the most perfect day of the year far. They couldn't have asked for better weather. I'm positive it was God shining down on them and their vow to one another. They had all the details covered from her gorgeous lace vintage inspired gown, to her amazing updo (thanks to her fantastic hair stylist, Amy Cabrera, MOH and sister of the bride). Her shoes were Tom's, a Colorado classic:), her garter was handmade and truly unique. Matt looked handsome as well in his 3 piece suit and his new watch, courtesy of Kristen. Their ceremony and reception were simply gorgeous and with every look at the groom, you could tell he was in awe of his new bride.

We wish Kristen and Matt many many years of love and blessings and look forward to many gatherings at their new home in the near future...hint, hint:) Thank you to Matt, Kristen, Judy and Dean for allowing us to be a part of this amazing day!

Corey + Danielle's Della Terra Mountain Chateau Wedding {Estes Park Wedding Photographer, Della Terra Wedding Photographer}

As the wedding season kicks into full swing it will be a bit harder to showcase all the wonderful weddings in their entirety up on the blog.  Hopefully you can get a great sense of what a beautiful wedding Corey and Danielle had a short couple weeks ago up at first chance to capture a wedding at this wonderful location.  The staff and service were excellent and I look forward to the opportunity to do so again.  I know Corey and Danielle worked hard pulling together all the details for their wedding day.  From my "expert" opinion, they did a superb job.  Thanks for allowing us to share in your special day.

Amber + Dillon's Alabama Wedding {Destination Wedding Photographer}

Every so often, we get the pleasure of attending a wedding and not actually being responsible for photographing and documenting the events of the day.  Ashley's cousin, Amber got married this past May 19th (Ashley and I's Anniversary)  on Lay Lake in Alabama to her awesome fiance Dillon Sullivan.  With so many family members in attendance that we don't see very often, we thought it was best to let a local photographer shoot the event and we kick back and party.  As you can obviously tell by the following photos on this post or I guess the fact that there is a post at all, not taking photos is extremely difficult for me to do.  With my camera in hand I tried so hard to sit back as any guest would do and sit during the ceremony, just watch the first dances and the cake cutting only capturing a few photos.  Ashley might tell you differently, but I think I did a pretty good job of it all things considered.  After seeing the lovely venue and the details that Amber and Dillon put into their wedding day a part of me was a bit sad we didn't say yes to shooting the entire event.  Here are the photos I managed to capture while enjoying  the wedding as a guest.  Congratulations you two.  We look forward to many anniversaries shared together over the years.

Melany + Blake's Engagement {Colorado Engagement Photographer, Colorado Sunset Engagement Session}

Last week we set out to photograph Melany, Blake and Tatum (their little white Lhasa-poo) as they shared a bottle of wine and laughs while catching a perfect Colorado sunset just outside of Denver.  For these two Kansas natives, it only made sense to find a wide open field and an old wooded fence to lay the quilt her grandmother made for them down and give the shoot that perfect country feel.  We are looking forward to their July 7th wedding down at the Denver Chatfield Botanical Gardens "Green Barn Farm".  If its anything like their engagement shoot, it promises to be an absolutely amazing evening.

Baby Photos with Jazlyn {Denver Newborn Photographers}

As each day passes and we get closer and closer to the birth of our baby boy in August, I see the excitement grow exponentially within my lovely wife/mother-to-be.  This excitement for babies, often dubbed "baby eyes", has recently inspired Ashley to book several newborn shoots just so she can get her hands on their chunky cheeks and soft baby skin.  Here are a few photos from one of those recent shoots with a little girl named Jazlyn and her mom Megan.  She is cute as can be and I am so proud of my wife for the great shots she got of little Jazi.  I can promise you there will be many more newborns and children to appear on this blog over the next several years :)  If you have a squishy and cuddly newborn who wants to be a little model be sure to give Ashley a shout at ashleyanddrake@gmail.com.  You wont be disappointed.  Love you Ashley.

Mandi + Kyle's Downtown Denver Engagement

On June 6, 2014 Mandi and Kyle will say their vows to one another at Mile High Station in Denver Colorado.  This past weekend we set to the streets of Denver for their engagement session.  We started at the place where they met each other.  The same place Ashley and I met many years ago and is near and dear to our heart.   What is this place you ask...  I am talking about the one and only Cowboy Lounge in LoDo Denver.  After leaving "the CL", we hopped online free pokie around LoDo stopping in back alleys and tucked away corners trying out best to avoid the Cinco de Mayo celebrations and the massive amount of Rockies fans pouring out of Coors Field at that same time.  Mandi and Kyle weren't shy or phased at all as many onlookers photobomed and cheered us throughout the entire shoot.   We had a great evening out on the town and I am so happy for the two of them.  We look forward to their wedding day in 2014.
