Our Babymoon - A 10 Day Vacation touring Northern California

'A Babymoon' refers to a one last long trip a couple may take before their baby is scheduled to arrive and lives change forever.

We decided to take full advantage of this new concept and hop on a flight out to Northern California to see several family and friends from each of our respective families!!! We flew into San Francisco and started the trip off in Santa Cruz, where our cousin Heather lives. She took us all along the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) down to Monterrey, Carmel and Big Sur. We had lunch at Nepenthe, where the views were amazing! We also had breakfast at Cafe Brasil, which had the most amazing Acai bowl ever!! I'm still dreaming about it! The next day we went hiking in the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, where Drake finally (after searching for a couple hours) found his banana slug.  Read more below...

 After that we headed up to Morgan Hill, where Drake's Aunt Teresa and Uncle Larry live. They made us an amazing dinner and we had a fabulous time visiting with them for a couple days as well as Drake's cousins Justin, Ashley and their 2 boys, Vander and Oliven. We even got some time with them to play baseball and bubbles in the backyard!

After that, Theresa and Larry handed over the keys to the Brit, (aka MINI Cooper) and we headed up to the city. We went on the Alcatraz tour and then experienced a taqueria in the Mission. We stayed at a fancy hotel near Union Square and drove all around the city to see all the San Francisco sights! I'm pretty sure we saw every tourist attraction possible:)
We then headed up toward Napa, where we stopped off to visit our cousins Brooke and Kyle and their most adorable little boy, Hunter! We had lunch at the Blue Barn Gourmet in Marin, which was AMAZING! And then headed off to visit Mt. Tam, Muir  Beach and The Pelican Inn. A super cool English hotel and restaurant just off the PCH. It was so great to visit with them for the day!

And then....there's wine country! I think we drove the entire Napa Valley and stopped off at multiple wineries along the way including Cline Cellars, Viansa, Casa Nuestra, Markham and ended the day with our friend Peter at theFarmstead at Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena. Drake had a great time tasting all the wines and I enjoyed taking in all the views along with the Online Pokies occasional Volume Pills sip of wine:) We stopped by the Oxbow Market and picked up some fresh cheese, bread and meats and had a feast back in our hotel room at the Andaz Napa, which was fabulous!

The next day we headed up toSebastopol, where Aunt MaryAnn and Gary live. They treated us to a fantastic salmon dinner and we relaxed on their deck for hours and even spent some time in their hot tub!! They drove us up the PCH the next day to see the majestic cliffside views and take in the ocean air. It was pretty cold so I stayed in the car most of the day:) We made it up to Jenner and had coffee by the ocean! We came back and explored the cute, hippyish town of Sebastopol that night! The Hopmonk Tavern was a fun place for us to relax after a long day in the car. After that, we went back to the house and got a tour of Gary's recording studio, Gatmo! It was fun to see all his musical instruments and listen to his new recordings.

The next day on our way back to the city, we took a detour to thePoint Reyes lighthouse! It was a hike to get to but well worth the effort! We also got to stop by Drake's Bay Oyster Farm. It's a shame, we don't like oysters:/ After that, we stuck in the tiny town of Inverness for a few hours due to a car/cyclist accident. Good thing it was warm, so we got to sit out on the water and enjoy the perfect weather! When we finally got through, we headed back to the city where we met up for a "cousin dinner" at Padrecito in Cole Valley. Our cousins, Brooke, Kyle, Mitch, Katie, Tori and Mark all made it out to hang with us for the evening. We had a fantastic time catching up and eating delicious food! The chilaquiles were great!! (Thanks to Brooke's restaurant group for accomodating us!)

We ended the trip with Mitch and Katie in the city, where we had a fabulous brunch at Outerlands and then hung out in Dolores Park, which is the happening place on the weekends! We had a fabulous time and are so happy that we were able to visit so many places and family members!! We are also glad that we got to spend the time together since Baby Grayson will be joining us soon on our future adventures:)

Vaishali + Niraj's Dillon Colorado Winter Engagement Shoot {Dillon Wedding Photographer, Keystone Colorado Wedding Photographer}

Vaishali and Niraj have a wedding date set for January 2014 in Vaishali's home state of Florida.  They came to us wanting a classic Colorado mountain engagement shoot.  Vaishali expressed her desire for photos to be taken in the snow in her traditional.  Fortunately the recent spring snow storms that hit Summit County and Dillon Reservoir created for the perfect backdrop for us.  We also couldn't end the shoot without incorporating a little snowshoeing, one of their favorite winter pastimes.  Congratulations to Vaishali and Niraj. 1 2 3 4 5 6

Shannon + Matt {Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer}

Meet Shannon and Matt...Shannon is from Maryland and Matt is from Iowa... they somehow managed to meet in the middle of Arkansas! I'm pretty sure that's called fate:) Matt is a graduate from Air Force Academy so the chapel on base was an obvious choice when planning their Spring Colorado wedding. Little did they know, that the temperatures would be in the teens with blustering cold and winds. However, this didn't change the fact that they were ecstatic to be marrying one another. Never once did they allow the weather to affect their feelings toward their big day!

After the ceremony, the crowd headed to the Falcon Club a few minutes down the road, where they celebrated with an amazing group of friends and family.

Congrats Matt & Shannon! We hope you're having a blast on your surprise honeymoon to Cabo:)

Here is a quick look at their wedding day.

Ashley + Drake {Antigua Honeymoon}

After spending an entire wedding week amazing water and beaches in my life!!  We spent the entire week eating outstanding food, snorkeling, sailing (with Catamaran Sailing Antigua), getting massages (in a cottage on the water!!), drinking pina coladas, lounging in the poolside cabanas, touring the island (St. John, Shirley Heights, Nelson's Dockyard, Jolly Beach, etc). We even took a tour of Fort James where apparently nothing happened:) I couldn't have asked for a more perfect honeymoon or a more perfect person to spend my life with!! Love you honey!

50% Off Album Design {Denver Wedding Photographer, Custom Wedding Album Design}

Why Order an Album Now? A quality wedding album typically is one of the last things on the list when booking a wedding photography package for you big day.  In this digital age, most couples think that simply getting the full rights to the images will suffice and they can either purchase one at a later date, build their own album later or share the photos online only.  While this may be true there are several reasons to order your album along with your wedding photography package.

1)   You will get busy - Believe it or not, things come along in life that will delay the ordering of an album and you don’t want to look back and wish you had printed it way back when.

2)   Technology Changes - CD’s, DVD’s and thumbnails are easy to lose and technology changes quickly.  You will want to make sure you have something tangible that will live on forever. An Image Box of Prints could suffice, but wont tell the entire story.

3)   Everything is fresh - The album designer (the day of wedding photographer here at Drake Busch Photography) will have first hand recollection of your wedding day and the important details and flow of the day.

4)   Save money by ordering now - When an album is booked within an “album package” as opposed to A La Carte, you are saving a couple hundred dollars on the design costs.

How to Order a Wedding Album?

The following pages give a breakdown of the various albums styles we offer at Drake Busch Photography. The costs of our albums vary depending on the page style and cover option you choose. Our A La Carte design fee is an additional $399 on top of the printing cost.  To start the process contact us and let us know what style you are looking for and the number of pages you were wanting.  We will begin designing based on your preferences and share a proof with you.  From there it will be a collaborative effort to modify and swap images to make sure it is the perfect album for you.

Wedding Album FAQ:

What is the Design Fee and what is the total cost of having my album printed?

The design fee is $400 and includes the initial design plus up to 3 rounds of changes to get the album you want sent to print.  The total cost of printing an album with Drake Busch Photography then is the design fee of $400 plus the base price from the album of your choice below.

Do you design more collage pages or single image pages?

Typically we will design most pages with some sort of collage.  If given enough pages to work with, we like to add in a few single image pages of the bride and groom or any other impactful images the help tell the story of your wedding day.

What is the difference between Pages/Spreads and Sides?

Different album companies word things in different ways when displaying their base pricing. Sides are the 2 individual “pages” in a spread.  Therefore a “Page” in the album companies terms, is the combination of 2 sides.  Kind of confusing we know.

How many pages would you recommend in an album design?

I would always recommend a minimum of 15 spreads or 30 sides to completely tell the whole story of your wedding day. The more the merrier and like mentioned above, the more pages there are the larger the photos can be displayed.

What is the cost if I wanted to add an additional album for parents or grandparents?

Here at Drake Busch Photography, we want as many albums out in circulation as possible.  Because of this we offer companion albums to couples at cost of printing (base price) with no extra upcharge when ordered at the same time as the original. If a duplicate is ordered afterwords, then simply the base price applies.

How do you know what images to choose?

If you were a wedding client of ours, then you have an online proofing gallery where you can create a folder of your favorite images to use for album design.  Simply log into your Pictage account and create a favorites folder and we will take it from there.

How many image should we choose?

The total amount can vary on the number of pages you give us to work with.  On average we like to put no more than 5 or 6 images per side unless they are small detail photos.
